Day 24: A Song that You Have Danced to With Your Best Friend

Now?
You know my girl now?
No?

You know my girl just called me up
And she woke me from my sleep
You should have heard the things she said
You know she hurt my feelings deep

I’m gonna buy me a dog
A dog? A dog
Why? Why?
‘Cause I need a friend now
Babe, you need all the friends
You can get, I’m tellin’ you
I’m gonna buy me a dog
My girl, my girl, don’t love me no how

Don’t ruin my song man
It’s the only song I have
It was ruined when it was wrote
Uh, where’s the verse?

By The Monkees

My sister Cheri and I have had many MANY songs that we have happily put a song and dance act to over the years. Most times we were drunk while putting on such performances but other times we were completely sober and having a field day being as stoooopid as possible. Gonna Buy Me a Dog is one of those songs that warrants all kinds of childish behavior without explanation or justification of soberness. Anyway… this song reminds me of all the crazy spontaneous adventures my sister and I would have when we were younger. After soooooo many years no I’m not exactly sure of the number of years I’ve known her I’m so very thankful to still have her in my life. She is the absolute bestest!

Day 23: A Song that You Cannot Stand to Listen To

Let me start this post by saying I’m not an expert music critic. I’m not picking any song or artist a part at the seams nor am I say all of an artist’s songs/albums are absolutely horrible all the time. So hear me when I say the artists I picked for this post have had some pretty good songs drop in their career. I’m a closeted fan of Party in the U.S.A. I’ve been a fan of Gaga’s music since she came out lol not literally speaking a few years ago.

So with that said, here are my selections for Day 23’s post: Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus and Do What U Want by Lady Gaga.

To be honest, I think this would be a good song had it been sung differently. In MY opinion, again I’m not a professional music critic I can’t take her seriously when I hear this song. There’s something missing from her rendition. I mean is it just me or do the lyrics sound waaaaay deeper than the way she sings them?

We clawed, we chained, our hearts in vain
We jumped, never asking why
We kissed, I fell under your spell
A love no one could deny

Don’t you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you
I can’t live a lie, running for my life
I will always want you

Don’t believe me. Listen to this cover I found on YouTube. This guy sounds like he believes in the lyrics. Listen to the emotion in his voice. The metaphorical struggles of the lyrics come through without much effort from the artist. But with Miley Cyrus, I don’t feel the same way. Of course, I don’t know what the song means to her nor am I going to pretend I am an expert on her life because in all honesty, she’s still dumb young. She may not want to embody everything of a late 70s styled disco dancing roller skater with an 80s twist when she reaches the ripe old age of thirty.

I have no words for this Lady Gaga song with R. Kelly. NONE! I feel dirty when I hear it believe me I’m not opposed to some good raunchy AND ratchet sexually infused music and seeing the performance on one of the music award shows warranted an extreme Claire Huxtable side eye! Yes it was that disturbing! **shudder**

Day 22: A Song that Someone has Sung to You

Heaven must of smiled on me
Like it did the earth that day
When god created the sun and said let there be light
So I write your name across my heart
And proclaim it to the stars above
Oh April Shower me with your love

By Dru Hill

For an added bonus, check out this acapella rendition of this song.
